India will back dedicated rare-earth corridors in Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to localise mining, processing, R&D and manufacturing of critical minerals, linking them to Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and the magnet supply chain.
The move sits alongside ₹20,000 cr for carbon capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS) and related duty tweaks (e.g., batteries/auto supply chain), together aimed at cutting import risk and anchoring clean-energy, defence and electronics value chains at home. Announcements were made in the Union Budget, with officials framing the corridors as a long-horizon capacity build rather than a quick subsidy splash.
