India’s long-running trade pact with the EU is “within reach,” with exporters eyeing tariff relief for textiles, leather, footwear, pharma, chemicals and engineering. Average EU duty on India’s goods is already low (~3.8%), but garments/leather face ~10%, cuts here could lift job-heavy sectors.
Talks also cover services/mobility and standards, aiming to lock predictable access for ~$76 bn of Indian exports. Analysts say a deal would help diversify beyond the US amid tariff turbulence; industry expects an announcement soon.
